Today is the second day of BLW and I'm really impressed at how quickly Staci is picking up on this whole eating thing! We started with avacado yesterday, for no real reason other than I read about the health benefits of this fruit long ago and how wonderful it is as a 'first food' for a baby. It proved to be a bit too slippery for Staci's taste and upon getting it into her mouth did one of those 'wtfrenchtoast' looks and set it right back down. LOL! Today went much better. We gave her broccoli (no need to do the 4 day rule if you wait until 6 months to introduce solids, so long as there are no allergies in the family history) and I kinda think she liked it! Well, she was interested at least. Check the side bar for a cute video. Here are a couple pics for your viewing pleasure:
Isn't she the greatest? :) :) :)
Question: so, is it steamed really really soft? Did she gag at all? (London is a gagger...always has been). What are you trying next?
ReplyDeleteMaybe I'll try broccoli tomorrow.
YAY food! Ach, she's getting to be such a big girl! It's totally normal, btw, for babies to "warm up" to different foods. Keep trying the avocado periodically and I bet soon she'll gobble it up!
ReplyDeleteSunny-thanks for the tip! :) Bex--She hasn't gagged yet but if you check out http://babyledweaning.blogware.com, look at the left column and there is a link that says something like 'the whole gagging thing'. click on it and you will get some reassurance!!! from what I understand it's COMPLETELY normal, and expected, for them to gag multiple tims on fingerfoods for the first 2-3 months they're eating them. they give tips like overexaggerated barfing faces and overexaggerated chewing will help teach L what to do when the food gets too far back and it's too big to swallow just yet. :) :) KMP! ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL I am cracking up about your comment on overexaggerated barfing faces. LOL!! I don't know why, but that just totally cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteShe's a doll :-)
